-  A Trying to Be Brief Bio -

I've been listening to hip hop musical since I was about twelve.  My parents opposed it at
the time especially since gangsta rap was so alive in the East L.A./ Montebello area I
grew up in during the early 90's while classic boom bap rap was being forged in the
streets of New York.   I started off listening to groups like Public Enemy, Cypress Hill,
RBL Posse, Eazy E, N.W.A., Dre and Snoop, Wu-Tang, OutKast, Tribe Called Quest and
other groups.  Unfortunately at time I was unaware of the true cultural fundamentals of
hip hop i.e., emceeing, deejaying, b-boying, and graffiti were all part of a cohesive
interlinked subculture that started in the Boogey down Bronx, New York in the late 1970's
and became know as Hip Hop. It wasn't till college that I found out about the foundational
perspectives and philosophies that formed the early Hip Hop Culture and began to
appreciate the music as a way of life I personified, felt a part of, and could live and
express in my existential daily living.  Also in college I found a deep passion for
philosophical inquiry in the rich history of human rationalism, existentialism,
psychoanalysis, civil discourse, postmodernism, and basically just free human thought.
Using anecdotes and musings I've attained from my philosophical and psychological
studies, I decided to pick up the microphone myself and make a conscious contribution to
the movement of hip hop music to enforce my own principles, ethics, and beliefs. During
the past three years I've been sharpening my skills at emceeing, djaying, and making
beats.  The current philosophy of my musical approach is based on improvisation.  The
late French Philosopher Jacques Derrida was sceptical as to whether improvisation was
even possible.  I think the his most of ignorance of this position rest on the fact that he's
probably never been to an emcee battle or dj competition before, ha.  I have no knowledge
of musical theory or notes or what not.  I use a Keyboard, MPC, two turntables and a mic;
and basically just fiddle around with samples and sounds till I get it tha way I like it, ya
know!  Eventually I will learn music theory when I want to evolve my sound more but
right now I'm enjoying the theory and practice of improvisational music such as freestyle
lyrics, turntablism, sampling, and try to incorporate all the different aspects in my
musical works. I also graduated from Cal State Fullerton University with two bachelors
degrees in
Philosophy and Psychology.  I've started writing articles for Free Inquiry
magazine published by the Council for Secular Humanism and am working on a book that
will be out in the future.  And last but not least, I just released my first full length album
titled "Question Everything" with 20 songs all written, recorded, and mixed by me as well
17 songs musically produced by me as well.  It is a full 74 min long and is available by
clicking
here.  I literally created this album from scratch right in my own home from
beginning to finish.  It was allot of hard work and effort and Im now trying to sell cds, get
the message out, and could use anyone and everyones help. Thanx to anyone who
supports my music and philosophy, peace!     - PRoCLaiM -
